IT'S OFFICIAL - ISTRIAN SAUSAGE IS AMONG THE BEST IN THE WORLD. AS MANY AS NINE HISTRIS PRODUCTS WERE AWARDED SUPERIOR TASTE AWARD STARS!
Probably the most well-known recognition of superior taste quality in the world, the maximum three stars are awarded to Istrian sausage, with two stars wild boar sausage, deer sausage, deer salami with truffles and Istrian pancetta, while one star is awarded to wild boar salami with truffles, boškarin salami, Istrian sausage with truffles and Istrian ombolo.
"We try to be original, consistent with tradition and preserving the original flavors by using only meat of Croatian origin. This is a testament to Histris' commitment to superior quality for consumers to enjoy. Excellent structure and well-balanced flavors, superbly made products are what we strive for. At Histris, we are extremely proud that Istrian is now recognized worldwide! This is a small contribution to the preservation and protection of Istrian sausage, but also a great recognition of the commitment to the work of all our employees and the common persistence on quality, pointed out the owner of the Histris plant in Sv. Peter in the Forest of Ivica Milotić.
The Superior Taste Award is awarded by the International Institute for Food and Beverage Tastes based in Brussels. Companies from 130 countries with thousands of products are competing for the prize. Only the best are certified, which are products that successfully pass the blind tests of a jury composed of about 200 world-class chefs and sommeliers, where, among others, they attach particular importance to the evaluation of the taste, smell, texture and appearance of the product. For the first time, Histris participated in this prestigious certification of the taste and quality of food and beverages.
"We continuously work to preserve the characteristic flavors instilled in the Istrian people, and increasingly offered to the world traveler. Implementation of sustainability principles, returning to tradition and community are our mission. All raw materials are marked as Meat of Croatian Farms, and thanks to the private hunting grounds that Histris leases near Ogulin and the purchase of game from local hunting companies, we are able to offer game products as well. Istrian sausage is a product made from minced pork and solid fatty tissue, with the addition of spices: salt, pepper and malvasia in which garlic has been boiled. In order for the product to be of high quality, we must have a hard-working team of people who will make the product, the director of meat processing of Histris, Dalibor Matišić, talks about the production process.
The success of Histris is the result of systematic planning and turning to renewable energy sources, but also the planned transformation of production: from the original meat processing plant opened in 2015 in Poreč, a year later moved to Sveti Petar u Šuma to the former Puris factory and renovated to this day and modern production process.
The small Istrian company now stands alongside the rare Croatian mega-companies whose products are illuminated by the stars of the Superior Taste Award. Thanks to continuous investment in product quality and following trends, Histris is an increasingly recognizable brand on the market, which is further confirmed by this award. The award makes us extremely proud, we are grateful to all our consumers, they recognize the taste of Histris quality, and their trust is the motive and strength that drives us, proving that we are on the right path, says Histris marketing director Jasminka Benazić.
The Superior Taste Award is recognized by renowned institutions such as Le Guide Michelin and Gault & Millau, and this award puts Histris on the global map of top gastronomic experiences.
