Selekcija Malvazija

Stylistically between fresh Malvasia and aged Santa Lucia, this is a true gastronomic wine. Straightforward, concentrated and slightly salty, Selekcija perfectly demonstrates what mature and complex Istrian Malvasia can offer.

Malvasia (Istrian Malvasia) Selekcija is a relatively new addition to our cellar. The 2022 vintage marks its seventh release. Stylistically it is positioned between our fresh, best-selling Malvasia and aged Santa Lucia, but it retains its own distinctive character. It usually comes to the market a year or two after the classic Malvasia, and before the Santa Lucia. We experience it as a more refined, focused and concentrated version of the classic Malvasia, with greater complexity and a clear reflection of the characteristics of a particular vintage.
The 2022 vintage is characterized by a moderately golden color and a beautiful shine. On the nose, it is moderately intense and quite open. The aromas of peaches and apricots dominate, with a delicate floral note of acacia. In the background, subtle hints of smoke, wet stone and butter add depth. The profile is fruity, without oak influence. It immediately gives the impression of richness and fullness, which completely fills the palate, creating an immediately appealing experience. Over time, the aromas continue to open and develop.
On the palate, it is dry, with low to moderate but well-balanced acidity. It is full-bodied, with intense flavors that develop like a slow, steady explosion. It faithfully follows the aromatic profile, enriched with a touch of minerality and saltiness. The finish is long, refined and clean. This is a slightly stronger and bolder version than the usual one, perhaps the most powerful yet, clearly reflecting its Mediterranean origins. Ideal for medium-term aging.

This is the perfect gastronomic wine, which can go well with a variety of dishes. Its saltiness and clean, precise finish make it an excellent choice with grilled fish, scallops, shrimp, roasted chicken, or pasta with truffles.
