Zigante Tartufi - Hereditary love for truffles

The headquarters of the company Zigante tartufi d.o.o., the first name in the processing and sale of truffles in Croatia, is located in Plovania near Buje and has representative offices in many European countries as well as in Australia, Japan and the USA. Today, customers can find Zigante products in all well-equipped retail chains, wine bars, specialized stores and Zigante stores.

PRODUCTION FROM THE FOREST TO THE TABLE
The production of the Zigante factory is fully automated, and the complete technological equipment and knowledge of the employees make it possible to obtain unique truffle-based products that customers can enjoy all year round.
The Zigante factory is equipped with the most modern machines for the production and packaging of products and is fully automated.
In addition to truffles and products based on truffles, the company also produces four types of extra virgin olive oil from autochthonous Istrian varieties (Istarska bjelica, lecciono, frantoio, buža) and six premium wine labels (Malvazija Istarska, Teran Riserva, Teran Gran Riserva, Couvee Frasco, Rose Castagna and sparkling wine). In total, more than 50 different products with or without truffles are produced in five production lines.

MAGNET FOR TRUFFLES
Although as a toolmaker Giancarlo dreamed of making a machine that would be known all over the world, after work he would go to the forest and enjoy making truffles. He saw it as a simple way to relax after work, but many people said that truffles simply stuck to him. So one day he found even 6 kilograms of truffles! Then, of course, immediate and extended relatives and friends enjoyed the rich catch.
But the real turning point for the whole family happened that November, the day Giancarlo and his dog Diana found a 1,310 gram white truffle in the Motovun forest. The huge truffle called Millenium was entered in the Guinness Book of Records and forever directed the entire Zigante family to improve the status of Istrian truffles.

Today, the company Zigante tartufi, which was founded in 1992 by Giancarlo, is run by a new generation - daughter Antonella and sons Adriano and Marino.
